Today, I have Doris O'Connor on my blog talking about Men in uniform

There is something about a man in a uniform that makes a woman's heart beat a little bit faster. Don't ask me to quantify what it is about the uniform— all I know is that it does. Even the most cynical amongst us will admit to a little swoon here and there. My hubby tells me it’s the same for the men and women in uniform. I guess some of the attraction is without doubt in the position of power and authority that comes with the uniform. Or the symbol of caring—think doctors and nurses. Protection—think our armed forces and the police. So, when it comes to writing Romance men in uniform are always hot.

Add some children into the mix and well…

*sigh* I don't know about you but I melt a little when I look at that picture. And there may be a scene involving my hero and his cousin's newest baby in my latest release. So, when I pondered this story, I knew I wanted to write about a firefighter. Everyone likes a firefighter, right? In fact I first got the idea when I was sitting in my car outside my children's school, waiting for the bell to ring. There was a fire engine in the playground and naturally the kids were hyper excited. But what really amused me was observing the teachers. Now, I don't know about where you live, but round these parts, sadly, the firefighters do not look like Sexy up there. Nonetheless, several members of staff were at their best, giggly, and flirty self and an idea was born. What if, my hero was a firefighter and my heroine a school teacher and they were reunited at one of these educational school meetings? And what if they had history? And just to add a bit more spice, what if my firefighter was Italian and part of a huge, tightknit Italian family with a very fierce Mamma, and more secrets and drama than the best soap opera? I needed some visual inspiration for my sexy Italian Alex Giovanni and I found it in the lovely Joe Manganiello.

Words flowed very easily with that visual inspiration *grin* and as is typical for me, the story took on a life of its own. I fell in love with Alex and Kitty and the whole Giovanni Clan, so much so that I decided to write a series. Alex, Marco and Giorgio are the three drop dead gorgeous cousins, who look more like brothers and yes they all look like Joe M. Did I have fun writing those stories? You bet I did and I hope readers will fall in love with them too. Too Hot To Handle is Alex's story and his fight for a HEA with fiery red head Kitty. It has had several re-writes since that original draft as my writing evolved. When Evernight contracted my sexy Italian they requested I add more heat. The erotic writer in me rubbed her hands in glee and edits have never been such fun ;-) I leave you to judge for yourself whether I've succeeded. Too Hot To Handle released on Thursday and it seems folks do like my sexy Italian. It is already a bestseller at ARe. *big grin* http://www.allromanceebooks.com/product-toohottohandle-671160-149.html Cue me bouncing around like a loon and waking the baby up with my inane whooping

When firefighter Alex Giovanni returns to his old neighborhood to fulfill family obligations, he is reunited with the woman inhabiting his dreams. The sexy siren ran out on him after one explosive night many years ago. Hiding behind her sensible clothes she portrays the perfect image of Miss Prim and Proper and Alex vows to unlock the passionate woman he remembers. Mixing business with pleasure has never been so much fun. Kitty Jenkins’ orderly life gets turned upside down when Alex walks into her school. Their passion filled night four years ago has left her with a secret that threatens to tear them apart. Giving into Alex is out of the question, regardless of how much her body craves his touch. When secrets spill and disaster strikes, can their passion turn into love? There is an excerpt and a chance to win a copy on my blog here. I will be announcing the winner on Sunday January 15th.

  1. Gay men too...don't leave us out. We like men in uniform as well. It's not just for women.
